We partner with universities to build capstone design teams. Public and private sector partners will guide these teams. Emphasizing empathic approaches to design decisions enables students to understand better the essence of reality and relationships in rural communities. By capturing contextual data and translating it into insights augmented by communities’ principles and decisions, they start to solve problems from communities’ value systems. Design for people is a concrete way for students to consider the implications of their design from the perspectives of communities and diverse stakeholders and beyond the university accreditation requirement.
